Receive Your NHAC Observing Challenge Certificates!
NHAC is continuing its Observing Challenge Program that leads to 3 certificates for a year's observations. For each 4 months that you complete the Observing Challenge, you will receive a certificate until you have all three: 4-month, 8-month, and 12-month certificates.

To receive your certificates, you need to:

  • Observe 5 objects per month from the monthly Observing Challenge. You may do naked eye, binocular or telescope in any combination as long as you observe 5 objects from that list. (15 observations in one month will not count as a 3 observation months.)
  • Months do not need to be consecutive....you can go on vacation.
  • You can do any month's Observing Challenge at any time. (If you are clouded out in March, do March's Challenge whenever the sky clears.)
  • Any observing log format is acceptable. Just be sure it has the basics (time, date, site, written or drawn observations, etc.) on it. Contact any club officer if you need help with logs.
  • Turn in COPIES of your observing logs to the Observing Challenge Chairman after 4, 8, and 12 months.
  • Each month's Observing Challenge is on the club website, so don't worry if you miss a meeting.
  • Recipients of awards to have their names (and hopefully photos) put on the webpage.
Please note that this program is still evolving, and we may need to adjust some things. But please have fun, go out and look at something on the list. Be sure to share your "ah-ha" with a friend.
